MP Moran is a family-run business supplying building and plumbing products across seven branches in the UK and Ireland. Stocking products from more than 2,000 suppliers, developing the business for the future is vitally important to the team. MP Moran implemented Open ECX after growing tired of manually processing mountains of paperwork, with the goal of maintaining a strong market presence while freeing the purchase ledger team from time-consuming admin.
At the time of implementation in December 2016, just 15% of MP Moran's suppliers were using EDI to submit invoices. The rest arrived as paper or email, requiring manual processing that was slow, stressful for the team, and leaving no time for more valuable work. With 2,000+ suppliers across seven branches, the paper volume was significant and the administrative burden fell disproportionately on a small purchase ledger team.
Only 15% of suppliers were submitting invoices electronically at the outset, meaning the vast majority of invoices required manual processing by the purchase ledger team.
Mountains of paperwork were consuming the purchase ledger team's time, creating stress and leaving no capacity for anything beyond keeping up with the volume.
